Automatic 7-Amp Charging and Maintenance for 12V Lead-Acid Batteries
The FOXSUR FBC1207E is a microprocessor-controlled 12-volt battery charger for compatible automotive, motorcycle, marine and leisure lead-acid batteries. It automatically adjusts charging voltage and current as the battery recovers, then reduces output as full charge is reached.
With a maximum listed output of 7 amps, selectable charging modes, a digital display and built-in protection, it is suitable for routine charging, stored vehicles and battery maintenance at home.

A conventional charger can continue pushing current after a battery is nearly full. The FOXSUR monitors the charging process and changes stages automatically, helping reduce the risk of overcharging when the correct mode is selected and the charger is used as instructed.
The display shows charging voltage, current, battery percentage and temperature information. These figures are useful for following the charging process, but the percentage is an estimate rather than a laboratory measurement of remaining battery capacity.

The FBC1207E suits cars, motorcycles, utes, boats, ride-on mowers, ATVs and stored vehicles using compatible 12V lead-acid batteries. It is useful for recovering a discharged serviceable battery, maintaining a vehicle that is not driven regularly and keeping seasonal equipment ready to start.
Automatic Charging Stages
The charger controls the process automatically rather than requiring the user to adjust current by hand. Depending on battery condition and selected mode, the charging process may include:

Initial Check: Confirms battery connection and voltage before charging begins.

Recovery or Soft Start: Applies controlled current to a low battery where the charger can recognise it.

Bulk Charging: Supplies higher current to restore most of the battery’s charge.

Absorption: Holds an appropriate voltage while current gradually reduces as the battery fills.

Top-Off and Maintenance: Reduces output once the battery is charged and monitors it during continued connection.
Selecting the Correct Mode
The correct mode depends on the battery construction and ambient temperature. Check the battery label before charging.

Car or Normal Mode: Intended for common wet, maintenance-free and calcium-style automotive lead-acid batteries.

AGM Mode: Uses a charging profile intended for compatible AGM batteries.

Motorcycle Mode: Reduces charging current for smaller compatible batteries.

Repair Mode: Applies a pulsed recovery process to selected sulphated or long-unused lead-acid batteries.

Winter Mode: Adjusts the charging profile for colder conditions where supported by the charger.
Mode names can vary slightly between charger versions. The battery manufacturer’s charging instructions take priority over a general charger label.
Repair Mode Has Limits
Pulse repair may improve some lead-acid batteries affected by mild sulphation or long storage. It cannot repair a shorted cell, damaged plates, a swollen case, internal corrosion, electrolyte loss or a battery that has reached the end of its normal life.
A battery that repeatedly goes flat or fails a proper battery-health test should be diagnosed rather than repeatedly placed in repair mode.
How Long Will Charging Take?
Charging time depends on battery capacity, state of charge, condition, temperature and the mode selected. A deeply discharged large battery can take many hours even with a 7A charger.
As a rough guide, divide the amp-hours that need replacing by the average charging current, then allow additional time for the absorption and top-off stages. The charger will not deliver a constant 7A throughout the entire process.
A battery that accepts very little charge, becomes unusually hot or never completes charging may be faulty and should be tested separately.
Charging a Battery in the Vehicle
Many modern vehicles can be charged with the battery installed, but the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions should be followed. Some vehicles provide dedicated charging posts rather than recommending direct connection to the battery terminals.
Where a battery-monitoring sensor is fitted to the negative terminal, connecting the negative charger clamp to the specified chassis earth point may be necessary so the vehicle records the incoming charge correctly.
Switch the ignition and electrical loads off before connection. Keep the charger and mains lead away from moving parts, hot exhaust components, fuel and standing water.

Protection Is Not a Substitute for Correct Use
Check polarity before connecting, use the correct battery mode, provide ventilation and stop charging if the battery becomes swollen, leaks, produces a strong smell or becomes excessively hot.
Basic Connection Procedure
- Confirm that the battery is a compatible 12V lead-acid type and inspect it for damage.
- With the charger unplugged from mains power, connect the red clamp to positive.
- Connect the black clamp to negative or the vehicle’s specified chassis earth point.
- Plug the charger into mains power.
- Select the correct battery mode.
- Allow the automatic charging cycle to complete.
- Unplug the charger from mains power before removing the battery clamps.
Always follow the instructions supplied with the charger and the battery or vehicle manufacturer’s requirements.
Battery Compatibility
Designed for compatible 12V lead-acid batteries including common wet, maintenance-free, calcium, AGM and GEL types within the listed capacity range.
Do not use a lead-acid charging mode on a lithium battery. This charger is not a high-voltage hybrid or EV battery charger.
What the Charger Does Not Do
The FBC1207E is not a jump starter and cannot provide the large current needed to crank an engine immediately.
It is also not a battery analyser. Use a tester such as the KW600 or BK100 to measure cold-cranking performance, internal resistance and battery health.
