LifetimeFree App Updates
The A30M is considerably more capable than a generic Bluetooth engine reader. Manufacturer software allows it to communicate with supported ABS, airbag, transmission, body, battery, climate and other modules rather than stopping at the check-engine light.
Its wireless format is useful when a component needs to be operated while standing outside the vehicle, watching an engine bay or checking a light, window or door function.
Best Suited For
The A30M suits experienced DIY users, mobile mechanics and light workshops that want active tests and a broad reset package without paying annual update fees. It is a practical choice when a phone-based system is acceptable and extensive ECU coding is not the main requirement.
Full-System Diagnostics
Depending on the vehicle, accessible systems may include:
- Engine and emissions control
- Automatic transmission
- ABS and stability control
- SRS airbags and restraints
- Electronic parking brake
- Body control and central electronics
- Battery management
- Steering and steering-angle modules
- Tyre-pressure monitoring
- Climate control and air conditioning
- Lighting, windows, doors, locks, seats and other fitted modules
Codes, Live Data and Diagnostic Reports
The A30M can read and clear manufacturer-specific trouble codes, display ECU identification, show freeze-frame information and graph live data. Several values can be viewed together to help identify inconsistent sensor information.
Practical examples include comparing individual wheel speeds for an ABS fault, watching fuel trims while checking for an intake leak, monitoring battery voltage during cranking, confirming brake-switch operation or viewing commanded and actual throttle values.
Diagnostic reports can be saved and shared from the mobile device. This is useful when documenting a vehicle before repair, checking whether faults return or sending information to another technician.
Bi-Directional Active Tests
Bi-directional control allows the A30M to send a command to a supported vehicle module and operate a component directly. This helps establish whether the actuator and its circuit respond correctly.
Depending on the vehicle, available tests may include:
- Fuel-pump operation
- Injector or cylinder tests
- Radiator-fan control
- A/C clutch operation
- EVAP valve tests
- Electronic throttle operation
- Horn and exterior-light tests
- Windows, door locks and mirrors
- Sunroof and other body actuators
For example, if a window operates through the active test but not from its switch, the window motor and part of the circuit have been proven capable of working. The fault may be more likely to involve the switch, wiring input or control logic.
Active Tests Are Vehicle-Specific
The available test list changes by manufacturer, model, year and control module. Full-system coverage does not mean every component can be commanded on every vehicle.
26+ Service and Maintenance Functions
Supported functions may include:
-
Oil Reset: Resets the maintenance reminder after servicing.
-
Electronic Parking Brake: Retracts and resets supported rear brake actuators.
-
Steering-Angle Calibration: Relearns the straight-ahead position after alignment or repairs.
-
Battery Registration: Registers a replacement battery where the vehicle requires it.
-
DPF Regeneration: Requests a supported diesel particulate filter regeneration.
-
ABS Bleeding: Operates the ABS pump and valves during supported brake bleeding.
-
Throttle Relearn: Relearns the electronic throttle after cleaning or replacement.
-
Injector Coding: Enters replacement injector calibration codes.
-
TPMS Reset: Performs supported tyre-pressure relearn or reset procedures.
-
Transmission Adaptation: Resets or relearns selected gearbox values.
-
Gear Learning: Carries out selected crankshaft or transmission relearn procedures.
-
Air-Suspension Calibration: Calibrates supported ride-height systems.
-
Other Functions: May include EGR, AdBlue, sunroof, seat, window, lighting and related vehicle-specific routines.
The number displayed by the manufacturer refers to service categories. Each category contains procedures only for vehicles that support them.
Software Update Costs
Full-system diagnostics: Included.
Bi-directional active tests: Included where supported.
26+ listed service functions: Included.
XTOOL lists lifetime free software updates for the A30M. There is no annual vehicle-software update charge for the included functions.
AutoVIN and Automatic Scanning
On supported vehicles, AutoVIN can read the vehicle identification number and help select the correct manufacturer software automatically. An automatic system scan can then check available modules and list detected faults.
AutoVIN does not work on every model, especially older vehicles. Manual vehicle selection remains available when the VIN cannot be read automatically.
Wireless Operation
The interface communicates with the mobile device over Bluetooth with a listed working range of up to approximately 10 metres in suitable conditions. Actual range can be reduced by vehicle bodywork, electrical interference and the mobile device.
The adapter is powered from the vehicle diagnostic port, while the phone or tablet supplies the screen and user-interface battery. Leaving any OBD device connected for long periods can contribute to battery drain on vehicles that keep the diagnostic port permanently powered.
Coding and Programming Limits
The A30M is focused on diagnosis, active tests and service functions. It is not a universal online programming, key-programming or ECU-flashing tool. Selected guided procedures may be available on certain vehicles, but extensive coding should not be assumed.
Phone, App and Internet Requirements
A compatible Android or iOS phone or tablet is required. The XTOOL Anyscan app must be installed and the interface activated before use.
Internet access is required for activation, vehicle-software downloads and updates. Once required software has been downloaded, many normal diagnostic procedures can be performed without a continuous internet connection, depending on the vehicle and feature.
The app and mobile operating system are controlled by XTOOL, Apple and Google. A standalone scanner is the better choice for customers who do not want to rely on a phone.
Vehicle Compatibility
The A30M covers a wide range of European, Asian and American vehicles. Manufacturer, module, active-test and reset coverage varies by model and year.
Check exact support before ordering when a specific procedure is essential. It is intended for supported light vehicles using a normal diagnostic connection, not 24-volt heavy trucks.

Is the A30M the Right App-Based Tool?
Choose the A30M for full-system diagnostics, active tests and a large reset package with lifetime updates.
Choose the standard Mucar BT200 when lower price matters and code reading is the main need.
Choose ThinkDiag 2 when CAN-FD and selected coding are more important than avoiding a subscription.
