Stahlcar Volkswagen Group App Range
VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT Full-System Diagnostics from Your Phone
The Ancel BD500 is a dedicated Bluetooth diagnostic adapter for supported Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT vehicles. It provides manufacturer-level access to control modules throughout the vehicle, including engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, steering, body electronics and other fitted systems.
It also supports the ten standard OBD2 engine and emissions functions on compatible vehicles of other makes, plus selected VW Group procedures such as electronic parking-brake reset, service reset and throttle learning.

LifetimeFree App Updates
The BD500 is intended for owners who mainly work on vehicles from the Volkswagen Group and want more than generic engine-code reading. It can check warning lights from systems that a normal Bluetooth dongle cannot access and display manufacturer-specific live data through the Ancel app.
The phone supplies the screen and user interface, keeping the adapter compact. A compatible Android or iOS device is required whenever the tool is used.
Best Suited For
The BD500 suits Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT owners who want affordable full-system diagnostics and a few common service functions without buying a larger handheld. It is useful for ABS, airbag, transmission, steering, battery and body-electronics faults as well as normal brake and service work.
VW Group Full-System Diagnostics
Depending on the exact vehicle and fitted equipment, accessible modules may include:
- Petrol or diesel engine control
- Automatic, DSG or other transmission control
- ABS and electronic stability control
- SRS airbags and restraint systems
- Electronic parking brake
- Steering-assist and steering-angle systems
- Tyre-pressure monitoring
- Battery-energy and charging management
- Body and central electronics
- Climate control and air conditioning
- Instrument cluster and CAN gateway
- Lighting, doors, windows, locks, cameras, audio and other fitted modules
Fault Codes and Live Data
The app can scan available modules, read manufacturer-specific fault codes, clear codes after repairs, display control-unit information and show live values where supported.
Useful checks may include comparing wheel speeds during an ABS fault, viewing DSG temperature or clutch information where available, monitoring battery voltage, checking steering-angle position or confirming whether a door, brake or clutch switch is being recognised.
Clearing a code does not repair the underlying problem. If the fault remains present, the code or warning light will normally return.
Included Service Functions
-
Service and Oil Reset: Resets supported service interval reminders after maintenance.
-
Electronic Parking Brake Reset: Retracts or resets supported rear brake actuators during pad replacement.
-
Throttle Learning: Carries out supported electronic throttle adaptation after cleaning, disconnection or replacement.
-
Additional Procedures: The app may show further functions where Ancel has added support for the exact vehicle.
AutoVIN and Automatic Scanning
On supported vehicles, AutoVIN can read the vehicle identification number and help select the correct software automatically. Manual vehicle selection remains available when the VIN cannot be read.
An automatic scan can check the supported control modules and list detected faults in one report, making it easier to see whether several systems share related codes.
Generic OBD2 Functions on Other Makes
On compatible non-VW vehicles, the BD500 can still perform the ten standard generic OBD2 engine and emissions functions. These may include engine-code reading and clearing, live data, freeze frame, emissions readiness, oxygen-sensor results, on-board monitor results, EVAP testing and vehicle information.
This generic coverage does not provide ABS, airbag, transmission or body-system access on other vehicle makes.
Diagnostic and Function Limits
The BD500 is intended for fault-code diagnosis and selected maintenance procedures.
It does not include general bi-directional component tests or universal module programming. Service-function depth varies by vehicle and control unit.
Software Update Costs
Vehicle diagnostics and listed service functions: Included.
Ancel lists lifetime free app updates for the BD500, with no annual manufacturer-software update fee for the included functions.
Phone, App and Internet Requirements
A compatible Android or iOS phone or tablet is required. The Ancel app must be installed and the adapter connected through the app.
Internet access is needed for app installation, initial setup and software updates. Future app compatibility depends on Ancel and the mobile operating-system providers.
Vehicle Compatibility
Manufacturer-level full-system coverage is for supported Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT vehicles. Model-year and module coverage vary, with Ancel listing many vehicles from approximately 2000 onward.
Confirm the exact vehicle when a particular transmission, battery, brake or service function is essential. Other makes receive generic engine OBD2 coverage only.
