The iCarsoft CR Max BT Enhanced is the wireless version of the CR Max platform, built for users who want professional tablet-style diagnostics without keeping the scan tool physically tethered beneath the dashboard. The Bluetooth vehicle interface remains connected to the diagnostic port while the tablet can be carried around the workshop, positioned beside the component being tested or used elsewhere inside the vehicle.
It goes well beyond ordinary code reading. The CR Max BT can perform complete vehicle scans, access supported control modules throughout the car, display live data, operate components through bi-directional testing and carry out a wide range of reset, relearn, calibration and component-replacement procedures. It also adds selected ECU coding and teach-in functions that are not normally found on basic all-makes scanners.
Best Suited For
The CR Max BT is best suited to independent workshops, mobile mechanics, fleet users, used-vehicle dealers and experienced home users who work across several vehicle makes and want the convenience of wireless diagnostics.
It is especially useful during active testing, when viewing live data away from the driver’s seat, when working on larger vehicles, and when carrying out service or replacement procedures that require you to move between the scan tool and the component.
Why Choose the CR Max BT?
The CR Max BT sits between the wired CR Max and the larger CR Max P. It offers the same practical 7-inch tablet format as the standard CR Max but adds a separate Bluetooth VCI, allowing wireless operation at distances of up to approximately 10 metres under suitable conditions.
Compared with the CR Max P, it has a smaller screen and less internal storage and does not include the CR Max P’s DoIP hardware. It remains a strong option for users who want wireless full-system diagnostics, active tests, CAN-FD and selected coding functions without stepping up to the larger 10-inch flagship tablet.

Full-System Diagnostics
The CR Max BT can communicate with supported electronic control modules throughout the vehicle rather than being limited to generic engine diagnostics.
Depending on the vehicle, accessible systems may include engine, transmission, ABS braking, SRS airbags, electronic parking brake, steering, body control, air conditioning, suspension, battery management, lighting, doors and windows, parking assistance, infotainment, diesel emissions and other manufacturer-specific modules.
Within supported systems, it can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, display ECU information, retrieve freeze-frame data, view live sensor values and carry out a complete vehicle scan.
Wireless Bluetooth Vehicle Communication
The compact Bluetooth VCI plugs into the vehicle’s diagnostic port and communicates wirelessly with the tablet. This removes the need to leave the tablet hanging from a cable beneath the dashboard and gives you more freedom while carrying out diagnostic work.
The VCI includes an integrated work light to make the diagnostic socket easier to locate in darker footwells. Wireless range can reach approximately 10 metres in suitable workshop conditions.
Bi-Directional Control and Active Tests
Bi-directional control allows the CR Max BT to send commands directly to supported vehicle modules and components. This makes it possible to check whether a component and its control circuit respond correctly instead of relying only on a stored fault code.
Depending on the vehicle, active tests may include:
- Activating the fuel pump
- Operating electric windows and sunroofs
- Locking and unlocking doors
- Folding and unfolding mirrors
- Operating the cooling fan
- Cycling the ABS pump motor
- Testing lights, horns and wipers
- Operating relays, coils, injectors, valves and solenoids
- Running other module-specific output tests
Selected ECU Coding and Component Teach-In
The Enhanced CR Max BT includes coding and component-replacement functions for selected vehicle groups. These may help after replacing certain control modules, electronic components or other units that need to be introduced, matched or adapted to the vehicle.
Depending on the vehicle, available functions may include selected ECU coding for Volkswagen Group and BMW/MINI vehicles, along with component teach-in or replacement routines for selected Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter, Smart, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo vehicles.
Important: The depth of coding differs between makes and models. The CR Max BT should not be treated as a universal ECU programming, software-flashing or online dealer-coding tool.
Service and Maintenance Functions
The CR Max BT includes 49 main service categories covering common maintenance resets, adaptations, calibration procedures and component-replacement functions. Many categories contain additional sub-functions for more specific procedures.
Commonly used functions include:
- Oil service reset
- Electronic throttle relearn
- Electronic parking brake service
- Steering angle sensor reset
- DPF regeneration
- Injector coding
- ABS bleeding
- TPMS reset functions
- Battery registration and management
Additional functions are available on selected vehicles, including air-suspension calibration, air-conditioning service, headlamp calibration, transmission adaptation, airbag procedures, seat and window learning, EGR and AdBlue functions, clutch matching, crankshaft relearn, high-voltage battery functions, turbocharger relearn, NOx sensor reset, stop/start setup, camera and radar routines, control-unit reset and other specialist procedures.
CAN-FD and AutoVIN Support
CAN-FD support gives the CR Max BT access to selected newer vehicle platforms that use the faster CAN-FD communication protocol.
AutoVIN can automatically identify supported vehicles after connection, reducing manual menu selection and helping you begin a scan more quickly. Vehicles that do not support AutoVIN can still be selected manually.
Older BMW and Mercedes-Benz Adapters
The Enhanced CR Max BT includes a Mercedes-Benz 38-pin adapter and BMW 20-pin adapter for selected older vehicles using those diagnostic connections.
A separate optional 14-pin adapter is available for selected older Sprinter vehicles.
All 10 OBD2 Test Modes
For compatible OBD2 vehicles, the CR Max BT supports all standard emissions-related test modes, including reading and clearing codes, live data, freeze-frame information, I/M readiness, vehicle information, oxygen-sensor tests, onboard-monitor tests, EVAP-system tests and pending codes.
Diagnostic History and Reports
The CR Max BT stores diagnostic history so previously tested vehicles and scan results can be accessed again. Reports can be saved, shared and printed, making it easier to retain fault-code records or provide diagnostic information to a customer.
The built-in Feedback function can also submit diagnostic information and vehicle-specific issues to iCarsoft’s technical team.
Hardware and Usability
The CR Max BT uses a 7-inch 1024 × 600 touchscreen and runs on an Android-based operating system. It includes a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 5000mAh rechargeable battery.
WiFi connectivity allows software and vehicle coverage updates to be installed directly through the tablet. The interface supports 15 languages and includes one-key updating and feedback functions.
Lifetime Free Software Updates
The CR Max BT includes lifetime free online software updates, with no annual subscription required to continue downloading available iCarsoft updates.
Updates are installed directly through the tablet’s WiFi connection and may add vehicle coverage, functions and compatibility improvements as they are released.
Optional Videoscope Support
The CR Max BT supports the optional iCarsoft VDSP2000 videoscope. This allows the tablet to be used with an inspection camera for viewing difficult-to-access areas inside engine bays, body cavities and other components.
