The ScanGauge 2 is a compact OBD2 vehicle monitor, digital gauge, trip computer and basic engine-code reader. It plugs into the diagnostic socket and displays operating information that many factory dashboards leave out, including temperatures, voltage, engine load, fuel use and other live ECU data.
It is especially popular in tow vehicles, turbo-diesels, 4WDs, motorhomes and older vehicles where the driver wants to see what the engine is doing rather than waiting for a warning light.

ScanGauge 2 communicates with the vehicle through the standard OBD2 port and is powered directly from the car. Once set up, it turns on and off with the vehicle and stores its trip information even when disconnected.
The display can show four selected gauges at the same time. This makes it practical as a permanent dashboard monitor rather than a scan tool that is only plugged in when a fault occurs.
Best Suited For
ScanGauge 2 suits drivers who want reliable operating data visible while driving. It is particularly useful for towing, long-distance driving, diesel vehicles, vehicles without a temperature gauge, and owners who want to watch fuel economy or charging voltage.

X-Gauge Vehicle-Specific Data
X-Gauge expands the ScanGauge beyond its standard OBD2 values. By entering a supported X-Gauge command, the unit may display additional manufacturer-specific data such as automatic-transmission temperature, oil temperature, diesel particulate filter information, hybrid-battery data or other values not normally available through generic OBD2.
X-Gauge availability is vehicle-specific. A value being available on one model does not mean it will be available on another, even when the vehicles share the same manufacturer. Commands must be entered manually on ScanGauge 2 and should be checked against the ScanGauge compatibility list.
Transmission Temperature
Transmission temperature is not a universal standard OBD2 value. It is available only where a suitable X-Gauge command exists for the exact vehicle and transmission. Confirm support before ordering if this is the main reason for purchasing.
Five Automatic Trip Computers
ScanGauge 2 stores several separate sets of trip information so the driver can view the current journey, the day’s driving, the previous day, the current fuel tank and selected trip records.
Depending on the trip screen, tracked information can include distance travelled, driving time, average and maximum speed, maximum coolant temperature, maximum RPM, fuel used, average fuel economy and estimated fuel cost.
The fuel-tank computer can estimate remaining fuel and distance to empty after the tank size is entered and the unit has been calibrated through normal fill-ups. Fuel figures are calculated from ECU data, so initial setup and regular fill-up calibration are important for useful accuracy.
Performance Monitor
The built-in Performance Monitor can record vehicle speed, distance, elapsed time and a selected gauge during a measured run. This can be used to compare acceleration, monitor a hill climb, check performance before and after a repair, or observe how a selected temperature changes under load.
It is a monitoring feature rather than a professional motorsport data logger, but it provides useful repeatable information without additional equipment.

Diagnostic Limits
ScanGauge 2 is primarily a vehicle monitor and trip computer. Its scan function is limited to generic engine and emissions diagnostics.
It does not provide universal ABS, airbag, transmission-module, body-control, service-reset, active-test or coding functions. Choose a dedicated diagnostic scanner when those systems are the priority.
Display, Mounting and Setup
The compact button-operated display can be mounted on the dashboard, steering column or windscreen using a suitable mount. The backlight colour can be adjusted to better match the vehicle interior, and metric units including kilometres, litres, Celsius and kPa are supported.
Setup normally involves selecting the engine and fuel type, entering the fuel-tank size and calibrating speed, distance and fuel use if required. Once configured, everyday operation is simple and does not require a phone, account or subscription.
Vehicle Compatibility
Designed for most cars and light commercial vehicles using the standard OBD2 protocol, generally including petrol vehicles from approximately 1996 onward and many later diesels.
It is not intended for heavy trucks using J1939 or J1708 connections. Available gauges and X-Gauge support depend on the exact vehicle.
